Global company supports The Canal Boat Project
PRESS RELEASE

Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) honoured its commitment to local communities by making a positive contribution to the Harlow based charity The Canal Boat Project, this week. As part of their 'volunteer Day', fifteen GSK employees hung up their white coats and office suits and donned their overalls for the messy task of clearing away the bank of the river Stort near the Moorhen Pub, Harlow.
The Canal Boat Project, a charity that offers canal boat experiences to people with disabilities and community groups, plans to improve its mooring facilities along the river allowing improved access to its users. The Project currently operate four accessible canal boats but don't have enough space to moor them all at the same time. Doreen, the Project's manager said, "Without the help and support of GSK it would have been impossible for us to take advantage of the offer from Greene King, to allow us to use the extra mooring space. It will now make it much easier to ensure all our boats are accessible."

Nick Caller of GSK said, "We are a company who pride ourselves in supporting our local community. That is why each year we undertake to 'make a difference' and were pleased when we got the call from Doreen to support such a worthwhile charity. It wasn't the most pleasant of jobs, but we all worked together and we hope that will help us to become a better team."

Now the Project has the area cleared, they can make the site into a secure usable mooring. This will mean an increasing number of users can enjoy the beautiful river Stort. For more details about the Project contact them on 01279 424444 or visit their web site http://www.canalboat.org.uk.
